Biography - Brazilians who changed the way the world work, 2019.

Welcome readers! For today, let's think about this:

Only a few people know that the black hole, not so long ago, was just a theory, and no one had ever seen one.

So...

Who made the whole theory true and truly show itself?

Did you know?

(Biography)

Well, in middle of a lot of cientists, there was Lia, a brazilian.

But what was that photo of a black hole or somethings like this?

One of the great astronomical achievements of recent times, for sure, was the emergence of the first image of a black hole. The photo was the result of the junction of signals from eight telescopes scattered around the world. It was released not so long ago and caused a major movement throughout the scientific community.

Nothing is perfect, but all of us liked the hole (the black one).

Lia is one of the scientists responsible for joining the elements that compose the photo disclosed in 10th of April, 2019. The Lia Medeiros, nowadays with 28 years old, moved to the United States as a child and is part of the team responsible for the image and its dissemination.

A warrior, a brazilian.
In an interview with G1, Lia said that she grew up close to several scientific research, since her father is professor of aeronautics at the University of São Paulo. His passion for mathematics arose even as a child, when he noticed the similarity in the language of numbers in the different countries in which he lived. "When I was a child, I realized that although reading and writing were completely different in different countries, math was always the same," Lia said.

Lia even talked a little about how she realized she wanted to work with math and its aspects. "In high school, I studied physics, calculus and astronomy at the same time and finally understood the real meaning of mathematics. I was amazed and surprised that we humans were able to create a language, mathematics, which is not only able to describe the universe , but can even be used to make predictions. "
She also said that she was impressed by the black holes and decided that this was where her career would focus: "I was especially impressed by the black holes and general relativity theory.I decided then that I wanted to understand them.I remember that I asked one I had to study in college to work with black holes, he said that it would probably work with physics or astronomy, so I did both. "

Talking about the days after the revelation, Lia said they were "exciting, fun, vibrant and a little overwhelming." In addition, you think these results can inspire the next generation of scientists who want to know more about the universe around them.

In addition to a brilliant scientist, Lia is a woman conscious and struggling for gender equality in the exact and technological sciences (STEM). "I have devoted a significant percentage of my time during my studies in trying to expand the representation of women in science, specifically focusing on giving young girls positive examples in women's models at STEM."

Also she told about herselves in her site: "I'm a graduate student at the University of California Santa Barbara, but since completing my graduate classes I've been taking full advantage of the freedom the National Science Foundation GRFP Fellowship has given me by spending my time at Steward Observatory, the University of Arizona, and the Black Hole Initiative, Harvard. My thesis advisors are Feryal Özel and Dimitrios Psaltis, both professors at the University of Arizona. I got my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley with a double major in Physics and Astrophysics, class of 2013"

And on her site, she discuss about her job and her Researches. You can go in there by the link:

"Wow, that's really work it" she said. (Picture taken in the fervor of moment )
